Fundraising for Mind
In 2019, when Premierline was still part of the Allianz UK group, all colleagues voted to partner with Mind, as the corporate charity, with the mission to raise £1 million.
Mind is a charity that provides support services for people living with a mental health condition and anyone who is struggling with their mental health. Demand for their specialist services and helpline increased significantly during the pandemic, as they provided advice on coping in lockdown.
Our colleagues have participated in many fundraising activities, as of June 2021, collectively we raised over £800,000 for Mind. Our local fundraising highlights included:
- Premierline vs Allianz charity football match
We played a grudge match between the two Lancaster-based offices on Morecambe FC’s infamous turf. Supported by friends and family, the event raised over £1,000. - Great ABSL Bake Off competition
Running for 7 weeks, Premierline participants baked goodies, including cakes, scones, breads and pastries in a competition to find the best baker. Once judged the bakes were sold to raise funds for Mind. - Charity Skydive
One of our brave employees took to the skies and completed a tandem skydive by jumping out of a plane at 11,000 feet. - Challengize exercise challenge
The team at Premierline increased their own physical and mental wellbeing through running, walking, cycling, working out and yoga challenges, but also earned charity points for every activity they logged. The points were converted into monetary amounts and donated to Mind.
Partnership with North West Air Ambulance
Between 2016 and 2018, we fundraised for North West Air Ambulance, as part of the group’s 3-year corporate partnership with the Association of Air Ambulance Charity. We were proud to have contributed towards the £1 million raised for the charity which went towards funding additional helicopters so the service could increase the number of life-saving incidents they could attend.
North West Air Ambulance is part of the Air Ambulances UK, providing swift, vital medical treatment at the scene to those who have experienced traumatic, life-threatening injuries. The service isn’t funded at all by the NHS, so relies on charitable donations to keep its services going.
Our local fundraising highlights included:
- The Apprentice-style charity auction
Two Premierline teams competed against each other to source prizes for a charity auction event hosted at Morecambe’s Globe Arena. Attended by colleagues and local businesses, the event raised over £15,000. - North West Air Ambulance bake offs
The Bake Off is a sure-fire way to raise money at Premierline. Who doesn’t love a tasty treat? Again, the event was spread over 7 weeks, and the bakes were sold after they were judged. - Sponsored challenges
A number of our employees have raised sponsorship by participating in the Manchester 10km runs, Great North Run, Cross Bay Walk, Badass Mucker and an 81-mile bike ride from Walney Island to Glasson Dock (Lancaster).
Supporting St John’s Hospice
Between 2009 and 2015, we fundraised for St John’s Hospice, Lancaster. St John’s Hospice is a Lancaster based hospice that provides palliative care to those with terminal conditions and support to their families. The hospice is only part-funded by the government and relies on charitable donations to continue to provide its essential services.
Our local fundraising highlights included:
- The Apprentice-style Christmas challenge
Team ‘Hospice Helpers’ and team ‘Insuring a White Christmas’ set up rival stalls in St Nicholas Arcade, Lancaster, to sell Christmas themed services and goods that they’d made to busy shoppers. The teams raised over £7,800 for the charity. - The Apprentice-style shopping challenge
This time the teams had to source specific items from local businesses that the Hospice needed. The teams also managed to get a number of gift vouchers and items that the Hospice could use as prizes in future raffles. - Getting active
Numerous running, walking and cycling challenges, that included the Kendal Colour Run, Morecambe 14km Moonlight walk, Scafell Pike fell walk, and a 250-mile cycling challenge to Brussels.
